Geneva's Edgecombe leads National Newspaper Association
GENEVA — The president of the National Newspaper Association resides in Tribland. John Edgecombe Jr., 67, publisher of The Nebraska Signal in Geneva and co-publisher of the Hebron Journal-Register, was elected president of the NNA during its 128th annual convention and trade show Oct. 4 in San Antonio.

Hastings resident Kenneth W. Saunders, 80, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society Perkins Pavilion in Hastings. Open house and Ice Cream Social is 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Evangelical Free Church in Hastings with Dr. Samuel R. Rathod sharing worship at 1 p.m. In honoring his wishes to be cremated there is no viewing or visitation. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling arrangements. Fairfield resident Steven A. “Steve” Anthony, 56, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at Bryan Medical Center West, Lincoln, Nebraska. Memorial Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Fred Berry officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Thursday with family present from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date c/o Christina Davison, 1225 N. Elm Avenue, Hastings, Nebraska 68901. Steve was an organ donor in order to help others and his wishes were to be cremated.
