In the span of an eight-hour workday, a crew from Omaha changed the landscape around Duncan Field in east Hastings.
Protech Electrical of Omaha spent Tuesday erecting new Musco brand lights just outside the walls of the historic baseball field.
Terry Brown, parks director for the city of Hastings, said the installation of the six new lights around the field is the first step in the ballpark's renovation. He said preparations for the installation began Monday when crews bored 14-foot-deep holes into the ground.
The cost of the lighting project is $254,000, which is being covered by revenue generated from a half-cent local sales tax.
