Principal Jay Opperman confirmed Thursday that he is serving as interim activities director at Hastings High after the position was vacated last week.
Opperman said the duties of the position are being performed by other administrators at the school. He would not comment further.
School officials have been tightlipped about last week's sudden absence of activities director Gregg Holliday, who took over those duties in 2006.
Holliday also is not saying much but did make it clear that he was not fired and he has not resigned.
He would not comment further about his job status at HHS.
