Council votes in favor of Sunday liquor sales

MINDEN — It looks likely that Sunday liquor sales should soon become legal here.
Members of the Minden City Council voted 4-0 during their regular meeting Monday to place a resolution on the April 21 council agenda that would change the city ordinance and allow off sale — purchased to be taken home — Sunday liquor sales. No specific hours were included in the motion.

State statutes allow for Sunday liquor sales in communities where it is approved by a local governing board. The city already allows beer and wine on sale Sunday liquor sales 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and noon to 8 p.m., for liquor.

“We’ve been approached by a couple merchants here in town. Council members requested that we look into it,” City Administrator Matthew Cederburg said before the meeting.
