Wellfield project yet to run at full capacity

ALMA — A giant streamflow augmentation project for the Republican River has been running at half-capacity or better recently, and should be operating at full tilt as soon as a few final issues have been resolved.

That was the word here Thursday from Mike Clements, general manager of the Lower Republican Natural Resources District, updating the district's board of directors on progress with the augmentation project in southern Lincoln County.

"I think we're very close to having it at full capacity," Clements said of the project, which is known as N-CORPE, or the Nebraska Cooperative Republican Platte Enhancement Project.

N-CORPE, also the name of the interlocal agency that operates the project, is a partnership of the Lower, Middle and Upper Republican and Twin Platte NRDs.
