In order to encourage open, districtwide communication about the future of the elementary sites in the Adams Central School District, AC school board members are taking a new, progressive step that they hope will expedite action on the matter.
At its regular meeting Monday, the board announced its plans to hire a professional facilitator to listen to the input of the district's patrons and act as the mediator between patrons, the board and the district's administration during elementary site discussions.
"The future of our elementary sites is a patron decision, and it always has been," said board member Ryan Weeks, following the meeting. "We don't want the input to come from the board and administration. We want our patrons to get in a room together, work out their differences and come to a resolution that we can all be happy with. We think that a facilitator will be able to help with that."
