HPS may offer busing temporarily

Hastings Public Schools officials have proposed to temporarily offer busing for students at two elementary schools during a transition period should the $21.5 million elementary improvement bond election pass next month.

Jeff Schneider, the school district’s director of finance, told members of the board of education during a work session Tuesday that transportation is one of the most common questions he receives about the proposed project.

“We think that’s necessary to do during this transition given this plan will be the cause of people going to school in a different neighborhood than they currently do,” he said.
