The creation of a robotic hand, comparisons of video games to real life and studies of the U.S. stock market were all topics of discussion among students Wednesday at Hastings College.
Now in its ninth year, the Hastings College Academic Showcase gives students the chance to share their projects and classroom work with faculty and students in a series of presentations.
"Week after week we get to see how the volleyball team or basketball team is doing, but this is a chance to see the work our faculty and students are doing in the classrooms," said Alicia O'Donnell, a spokeswoman with the college.
Students, in all grades, are encouraged to submit proposals for projects they would like to pursue and present during the one-day event. The presenters are selected by a committee comprised of faculty, staff and students.
This year's event was expanded into Tuesday night, as well, so students who had studied abroad or taken on internships were encouraged to share stories about their experiences.
