Traffic was slow going this morning as commuters were greeted by falling snow and icy roads.
The Hastings Police Department kept busy responding to collisions and stuck vehicles all morning.
Traffic backed up on Burlington Avenue during the morning commute when a vehicle couldn't make it up the underpass in the southbound lane.
"One car gets sideways, everything gets messed up," said Richard Douglas, Hastings street superintendent.
While the car was moved by the time a sand truck arrived, Douglas said they sanded the area again to avoid a repeated situation.
The city's four sand trucks were put into action at 3:30 this morning. They will continue to apply sand to the city's streets. Douglas said the roads were manageable until sometime between 7 to 8 a.m. when the snow buildup and traffic created more icy conditions.
