The Hastings City Council voiced particular concern and interest in city road projects and developments that will be completed in the upcoming summer construction season at its regular meeting Monday.
Given the street and sidewalk awareness efforts recently championed by the Healthy Hastings committee and Share Our Streets campaign, council members discussed several ways in which they hope to see the road-sharing efforts sustained in the implementation of city projects this year.
The council approved two ordinances Monday that will allow neighborhood developments on North Shore Drive near Lake Hastings to move forward this spring. The council approved pavement projects that will extend Merle Avenue between North Shore Drive and Lakeridge Drive, as well as Nalan Drive and Meander Circle within the developing subdivision.
However, council members urged that city sidewalk regulations were adhered to in the construction process.
