Perception can often be different from reality.
And the same is the case with the perceived retail climate in Hastings, according to the findings of a survey conducted by the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce.
The survey findings revealed that, in general, citizens of Hastings have a negative perception of the city's retail climate that is in contrast to the offerings of stores and restaurants, as well as consumer spending habits.
"People like to shop here and want to shop here," said Corey Stutte, president of the Strategic Pioneer market research company and one of the survey's designers. "However, their perception is that they can't find what they need here."
