KENESAW — Tuesday was a much different track and field meet for Doniphan-Trumbull than its opener.
The Cardinals began their season Friday at the Hastings High invite with warm temperatures and a slight breeze. At Tuesday’s Kenesaw invite, the weather was chilly with a sharp wind.
Another difference was the competition.
At the Tiger invite, D-T was the only Class C team, going against A and B opponents. On Tuesday, the Cardinals competed against teams within their own class.
Doniphan-Trumbull cruised to the team title, scoring 124 points. Kenesaw placed second with 85 points, while Blue Hill (62) was third.
“We really started out well in the field events. Our boys shot put went one, two, three, and we got a couple other high places in some field events,” said D-T coach Adam Pfeiffer. “Some kids kind of surprised us with some marks today, especially with the cold weather.”
