The Class B No. 10 Hastings High girls soccer team showed plenty of resolve in its 6-3 win over Grand Island on Tuesday.
The Islanders (0-4) nabbed the early lead when Taylor Rodriguez scored off an assist from Mariah Rodriguez in the 18th minute.
But the Tigers (3-2), who finished with a 35-7 shots advantage by game’s end, didn’t need long to put the game back in their favor.
Just seven minutes after Rodriguez’s tally, Hastings High sophomore Chloe Swoboda tied things up at 1-all. Sophomore Alex Schmidt had a long assist from midfield that created the shot opportunity, and Swoboda reeled it in as a Grand Island defender tripped while chasing the ball down.
