KENESAW — It didn’t take long for the Superior girls track and field team to jump out to a big lead against its competition in Tuesday’s Kenesaw invite.
The Wildcats had at least one athlete place in the top two of each field event, totaling four gold and four silver medals in the first portion of the event.
Superior continued to perform well in the running events en route to a 151-point performance, which was 31 points more than second-place Doniphan-Trumbull.
“We kind of expected to come out and do well in our field events again. After we scored however many points after the field events, we knew we were possibly going to be able to win this today,” said Superior head coach Carla Hoins. “The key thing for us is our running. We’re scoring one or two in each event. We didn’t have anyone in the 1,600 or the 3,200. She usually places, so we’re looking forward to what she can do to add to our team points down the road.”
