Tyler Ripperger, a three-sport star for Hastings High, has decided basketball is his future sport.
The HHS senior, who also plays football and runs track for the Tigers, made it official Tuesday when he signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Midland University in Fremont.
"I definitely weighed my options in each sport and, in the end, just decided basketball is what I really love and what I am going to enjoy doing and focusing on in college," Ripperger said. "It wasn't until after my sophomore year of basketball that I started thinking about playing it in college. After last year, I really decided that I was going to see what I could get out of basketball and if that didn't work out, then think about another sport.
"After the season I had this year, I had some interest from colleges and really decided that's what I wanted to do and that's what I wanted to be a part of."
