GRAND ISLAND — Friday morning was not encouraging for the Adams Central track and field team, which was about to compete in its first outdoor meet of the year. Before the team left for an invite at Grand Island Central Catholic, the Patriots had to deal with chilly temperatures and ice on the ground.
But as the day went on, the temperatures warmed up, and so did the Patriots.
Adams Central scored 93 1/2 points to finish second at the GICC invite. Fillmore Central was right behind AC in third with 69 points, while Kearney Catholic won the competition with 123.
“I was really pleased. I thought we had some nice times from the kids and it was good to get out. We needed it after two weeks of practices,” said AC head coach Bill Carlin. “It was good to see us get out and get going again.”
