AC finishes third; Panthers seventh

GRAND ISLAND — This early in the season, every track and field team is focused on simply getting better with each competition.
Unfortunately, it’s been hard for most teams to get effective practices in with the weather. So when conditions were finally in the athlete’s favor, the Adams Central girls track and field team made sure they took advantage.

AC head coach Sam Colvin said his girls took a step in the right direction by placing third with 81 points at the Grand Island Central Catholic invite on Friday.

“We’re trying to get better, obviously. We’re a young team, so I was really pleased with how some of our freshmen competed today. We had some freshmen hurdlers that did well,” Colvin said. “We picked up points here and there, so overall I’m pretty pleased with our effort.”

Fillmore Central finished fourth in the event with 65 points, while Kearney Catholic (121) won the invite.
