SUPERIOR — Just a few weeks into the spring season, it’s been hard for the Thayer Central boys golf team to get on the course against any opponent not themselves.
The Titans first scheduled meet was in Beatrice, and it was postponed due to weather. The next competition was the Superior invite, scheduled for Thursday. The weather, which included snow flurries, forced that meet to be rescheduled for Monday.
Thayer Central finally got on the course Monday at the Superior invite. The Titans had an impressive showing in their first meet of the year, winning the team competition with a score of 333 — three strokes fewer than second-place Grand Island Central Catholic. TC’s Jay Cottam was the overall winner after shooting a 76.
“I could have saved a couple shots here and there, but It was nice to get a meet in finally and pull out a win and a win for the team,” Cottam said.
