GENEVA — It's early, but this week is already starting to shape up as one to remember for Fillmore Central boys golf head coach Jerry Stratman. Today, Stratman is on his way to Augusta, Ga., where he will be a spectator at the Masters golf tournament. But what happened on Monday hit a little closer to home.
Stratman's Fillmore Central golf team won its home invite at Hidden Hills Country Club. What made the win special was the fact that it came in Stratman's last home invite. After 22 years of coaching, the FC head coach is retiring from coaching and teaching after this year.
"It's really a special week. Not only going to the Masters, but the fact that the kids won," Stratman said. "I was really pleased with them, and that's going to top my week off."
