A win is a win, but the demeanor of the Hastings High boys soccer team after a 1-0 victory over York on Tuesday wasn’t exactly that of satisfaction.
The Class B No. 7 Tigers (5-2) outshot the Dukes (1-3) 18-1 in the game, letting many big opportunities fall by the wayside. And from head coach Mike Nanfito’s perspective, missing shots wasn’t the team’s only letdown.
“I thought we lacked the enthusiasm and the drive for the game,” he said. “We talked about how important our keys were, having enthusiasm, communicating, winning the individual battles. Overall, we’re happy to get to the win, but we have to continue to get better.”
Despite the tough outing, the victory marked the fourth-straight shutout for Hastings. The Tigers have now outscored their last four opponents 14-0.
