Bluehawks edge Mustangs

FAIRFIELD — Going into the final race of the day, the 1,600-meter relay, the St. Cecilia boys track and field team simply had to place in order to walk away with a victory.

The Bluehawks did just that, but they made it interesting.

St. Cecilia won Tuesday’s Sandy Creek invite, outscoring Sutton by half of a point. STC totaled 111 1/2 points.

“I thought there were some places where we did better than I expected, and certain individuals had a great day today,” said St. Cecilia head coach Alan VanCura. “Overall, I think it was a pretty good day for us.”

Sandy Creek placed third with 87 points, while Harvard was seventh (28) and Superior was eighth (23 1/2).
