Adams Central sweeps own invite

The Adams Central boys and girls track and field teams couldn't have picked a better way to honor former teacher and coach Dale Feeken at the meet that carries his namesake.

The Patriot boys scored 125 points while the girls scored 118 to sweep the team titles on Friday.

"This was really nice. I taught and coached with Dale Feeken and this meet is named after him, so this means a lot to me. To have our team come out and do as well as they did, that's really special," said Adams Central boys coach Bill Carlin. "Our kids like to compete at home in front of their own classmates, and I think that gave them some added incentive as well."

In the boys team standings, Minden placed second with 106 points while Fillmore Central was third with 96. In the eight-team girls race, Minden ended up fourth with 71 points while Fillmore Central was seventh with 35 points.

AC girls head coach Sam Colvin saw his team collect five gold medals by day's end, but it was the competitors that took home fourth, fifth and sixth place medals that really helped tally up the team's points.
