It's been exactly one week now since it happened, but I still can't get the image of Jack Hoffman racing for an inspiring 69-yard touchdown run during the Nebraska spring game out of my head.
There have been plenty of memories created inside Memorial Stadium over the years, and I promise that moment will be one of those things that Husker fans won't soon forget.
I wonder if Nebraska knew that this gift they planned to give Jack — a 7-year old with brain cancer — would create such an enormous media sensation?
Jack has been a state story line since 2011 when he met former Husker running back Rex Burkhead. Burkhead, inspired by the boy's story, used that motivation into his play and showcased a wristband with the words, "Team Jack — Pray."
Burkhead made Jack a local celebrity and gave awareness to pediatric brain cancer. Soon, there were plenty of fans wearing that bracelet or T-shirts supporting "Team Jack."
