At the beginning of the week, some forecasts called for a chance of snow Thursday. Instead, the Adams Central golf team was blessed with some great golfing weather.
The Patriots, who were without their full squad Thursday, shot a 388 to finish sixth at the Adams Central invite at Southern Hills. O’Neill won the event with an impressive team score of 328, placing three golfers in the top five.
“We played seven guys today, but we have 13 on the team. We have six kids who aren’t here today for various reasons, and four of those guys are in our top five,” said Adams Central head coach Don Lyons. “These guys came out here and did the best they can and shot the best score they can possibly shoot. We just need to keep practicing.”
Darren Harpold led the Patriots with a 12th-place finish, shooting an 89. Teammate Caleb Stark also medaled, placing 14th with a 91, while Garrett Sittner finished with a 99. Marcus Medcalf (109) and Brett Dieken (110) also competed for AC’s varsity team.
