HC women’s tennis wins home finale

On Wednesday, a thunderstorm chased the Hastings College girls tennis team inside, but not even the rain or hail could dampen the Broncos’ spirits after their dual with Concordia.

HC defeated the Bulldogs 5-2 inside the Physical Fitness Facility on the Hastings College campus for the Broncos’ first conference victory of the season.

“It feels good to get a GPAC win. The scores don’t show it, but we were close in every GPAC match this year… we just couldn’t finish. (Wednesday) we finished,” said Hastings College head coach Roger Sunderman. “We knew we were capable of playing like this. We just had to put it together in a game, and (Wednesday) we did.”

Due to the move inside the PFF, where there are only two courts available, GPAC rules allowed the dual to end when one team won five matches. Moving inside also made each singles contest a one-set match.
