Hastings High boys soccer coach Mike Nanfito couldn't be upset at his team.
After dropping a 2-0 decision to undefeated Kearney, he gave his squad some praise.
The Class A No. 4 Bearcats (13-0) didn't walk past the Tigers. The HHS defense showed up and worked hard — especially in the first half.
Their mission was simple: Don't possess the ball in Kearney's half of the field, and just get the ball out as many times as possible.
That resulted in no goals and only a few chances in the first half for the Bearcat offense, which averaged 3.1 goals per game and had scored 40 heading into the game.
