HHS girls beat Northwest

What a difference a half makes.

After the Hastings High girls soccer team failed to put the ball in the net in the first half in its game against Northwest, the Tigers responded by connecting on 7-of-16 shots in the second half to run away with a resounding 7-0 shutout on Thursday at Hastings College's Lloyd Wilson Field.

It wasn't as if the Tigers (8-5) didn't have opportunities in the opening 40 minutes, they just weren't finishing them. Hastings High had 14 shots on goal in the first half, including more than a few close calls against the strong north wind.

But once the teams flipped sides, it was a whole new game.

"We had the opportunities; we created the chances (in the first half)," said HHS head coach Chris Pedroza.
