The weather conditions may not have been perfect for the St. Cecilia invite Thursday at Southern Hills Golf Course, but it was the best STC coach Randy Aherns and his team had experienced this season.
"I made a comment that this was the first time they've got to play with no gloves and a winter coat on," Ahrens said.
The wind was gusting on Thursday, creating higher scores than some golfers are accustomed to, but it was St. Cecilia that overcame the elements the best, beating Hastings High by one stroke to claim the invite title.
"We competed well and had three kids medal, so that was a good thing," Ahrens said. "The good thing for us is that we played well on a course where we're going to play our district."
The Bluehawks shot a team score of 340. The Tigers shot 341 and Thayer Central had a 347. Adams Central shot a 359 for fourth place, while Bishop Neumann finished fifth with a 365.
