Broncos' GPAC tourney hopes still alive

Friday marked the Hastings College baseball team's biggest doubleheader of the year to wrap up the regular season. With a sweep of Concordia, the Broncos could all but ensure a spot in the GPAC tournament. Two losses would have ended HC's season.

After losing the first game 7-4, Hastings College got a strong pitching performance from senior Christian Schneider to capture a 7-2 victory in game two, keeping the Broncos alive in the hunt for the conference tourney.

"We held in our hands our future, whether we were going to get to the (GPAC tournament) or not," said HC head coach Steve Spongberg. "By winning the second game, we at least gave ourselves an outside opportunity to get there. That's something that I would like to see us do for our senior class."
