FRANKLIN — The race in the standings of the Twin Valley Conference girls track and field championship was as heated as the sun-soaked track.
And in the end, it was Deshler with 95 points winning the team title by just two points over Blue Hill (93). Franklin was a close third with 89 points.
When the announcer let the spectators know who won the title, the Dragons yelled and celebrated.
"They're pretty excited — it's been since the early 2000s since we've (won the TVC)," said head coach Shannon LeFave. "It's a pretty special thing."
FRANKLIN — Going into the Twin Valley Conference track and field meet, the distance runners at Kenesaw were confident they would do well.
"We knew that we would win," said Lane Tibbs, who helped the Blue Devils earn three first-place finishes in the distance events.
The 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs and the 3,200 relay have been a big part of the scoring for the Blue Devils all track season, and that was the case again Saturday.
The Blue Devils scored 107 points to place runner-up behind champion Shelton (137). In the distance events alone, Kenesaw tallied three gold medals, one silver and 46 team points.
