Saturday was a dream come true for Braden Wilson.
Not only was the former Kansas State fullback drafted into the NFL, but the Smith Center, Kan., native was drafted in the sixth round as the 204th overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs, his favorite NFL team.
"It's kind of crazy, I grew up a Kansas State fan and grew up a Chiefs fan," he said during a Monday morning telephone interview. "Now I'm going to Kansas City."
Wilson's parents moved away from Smith Center in 2009 and now live in Great Bend, Kan. Braden's father Chuck Wilson still works at The Peoples Bank in Smith Center where he is branch manager.
