Harvard family always ready to race

Rob Lipker races in a heat of the non-wing 600 micro-sprints
during the Brandon Keever Memorial Race Friday, July 26 at
KAM Raceway.

The thrill of tearing around KAM Raceway's small dirt track at more than 80 mph is as fun and exhilarating as any experience in the sport.

That is the way Rob Lipker looks at the races that take place Friday nights at the track southeast of Hastings from April through most of the rest of the year. He's there most weeks and often is joined on the track by his youngest son, Jake.

"You will work up a sweat when you're done with that because it's labor intensive but it's something you really love," Rob said. "It puts a smile on your face you can't get off for a long time."

Rob, 61, owner of B and R Body Shop at 808 S. Lincoln Ave., started racing at KAM in 1980, the track's first year.
