Man charged for molesting children

A 29-year-old Hastings man has been arrested and charged for allegedly molesting three children on Sunday.

Abraham Lopez-Jose of 820 S. Pine Ave. No. 194 was charged Monday with three counts of third-degree sexual assault of a child. He is scheduled to have an initial appearance in court on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Police believe an aunt was babysitting the three children when she took them to the home Lopez-Jose shares with Gonzalo Lopez-Jose, according to the arrest affidavit. The aunt and Gonzalo then went to take a nap about 3:30 p.m. and the children watched a cartoon.

Abraham allegedly turned the cartoon off and turned on a pornographic movie. Abraham reportedly pulled the 4-year-old boy's pants down and fondled him. Abraham also allegedly molested two girls, ages 11 and 8, outside their clothing.
When the aunt awoke about 5:45 p.m., she returned the children to their mother and the children reported the incident.

Abraham was arrested and is being held on a $250,000 bond, with 10 percent cash needed for his release.

Third-degree sexual assault of a child is a Class 3A felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
