County Board moves forward on alternative 281 route


The Adams County Board of Supervisors is taking a prelimiary but potentially cost-hefty step toward a road project that could address long-standing discussions about traffic congestion along U.S. Highway 281 as well as the crash-prone intersection at 26th Street and Showboat Boulevard.

The board voted Tuesday to advertise for bids on a $2.5 million to $3 million project that would pave and improve a 2-mile stretch along East 42nd Street and Showboat Boulevard, creating an alternative route for car and truck traffic to the east of town.
