Benefit to help resource for Down Syndrome families

Finding out their daughter Izabella was born with Down Syndrome was a scary realization for Betsy and Brad Wynn, but the Down Syndrome Association for Families of Nebraska has been a big help.

The Lincoln-based organization provides information to new parents of children with Down Syndrome.

“It’s all very encouraging information,” Betsy said. “All the information you find online is very discouraging and scary. (The Down Syndrome Association for Families of Nebraska) tell you ‘your child can do this, your child can do that’ and tells you what’s available and how to help your child.”

That is why the Wynns are among the organizers of the third annual Izabella’s Voice Pool Tournament, an eight-ball pool tournament beginning 3 p.m. Saturday at Miscues Pool Hall, 316 S. Elm Ave. The tournament usually lasts until midnight.

This year, first place will receive a $200 cash payout.
