Kool-Aid Jammers race at Aquacourt

Anthony Ramirez, 10, records the Kool-Aid Days Jammers
boat race as he and Charlee Mucklow, 9, walk along the lazy
river at Hastings Aquacourt Friday afternoon.

It was a kool win for Caleb Clark.
Not only did the 10-year-old Hastings boy capture the coveted Jammers Cup at the 2014 Jammers Boat Races Friday at Aquacourt Water Park, he also took home the trophy for best design.

As the fastest boat in this year's race, Caleb's "Cheeseburger in Paradise" entry was made of more than 50 Kool-Aid Jammers packets.

At the finish, it was neck and neck between Caleb's Cheeseburger and Carli Maier's "Gilligan's Paradise" entry. As the race ended in a near photo finish, the crowd held its breath and looked toward the judges for an answer, as it was neck and neck with just feet to go.

"I think it's the cheeseburger," declared judge and Miss Kool-Aid Days Brooke Ludemann.

As the crowd applauded, Caleb said, "It was pretty good. When I first made this thing, I didn't exactly think it would even win in the first heat."
