Authorities have identified the name of a 39-year-old inmate who died Saturday while in custody at the Adams County Jail.
Matthew J. Arterburn, whose last known address was 210 E. Seventh St., was found in a cell at 6:26 a.m. Saturday. Sheriff Gregg Magee said the man’s death does not appear to be from natural causes, but he didn’t elaborate.
Magee said Arterburn was in jail waiting on paperwork to transfer to a state prison to serve a sentence for a conviction of possessing child pornography.
Arterburn had been sentenced on July 15 to serve six years and eight months to 20 years in prison for four counts of possessing child pornography.
The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the death.
