Cause released in inmate death

The Adams County Jail inmate who died Saturday appears to have hanged himself, Adams County Attorney Donna Fegler Daiss released Wednesday.

Matthew J. Arterburn, 39, whose last known address was 210 E. Seventh St., was found dead in his cell at 6:26 a.m. Saturday.

Arterburn was in jail waiting on paperwork to transfer to a state prison to serve a sentence for a conviction of possessing child pornography. Arterburn had been sentenced July 15 to serve six years and eight months to 20 years in prison for four counts of possessing child pornography.

An autopsy was completed over the weekend and Daiss is waiting for the preliminary report for the next step.
