Tammy and Jeff Gregory thought the crack they heard was lightning from Sunday night's storm. They were in the living room watching television as the children got ready for bed.
Their son ran to the window and looked outside their home at 1340 N. Colorado Ave.
"Mom, there's some branches on Dad's truck," the boy said.
"We'll get them later," Tammy answered.
She wasn't worried. She knew there was a storm, but they had taken precautions.
Her Ford Explorer was tucked away in the garage. Jeff had moved the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado he bought in February across the street to avoid falling branches from the trees in their yard.
