Chief paddled out to the deep end of the pool to retrieve his chew toy.
His owner, Colleen Boyd of Hastings, waited for him at the edge of the pool. She said he is always ready to play fetch, but Monday evening was his first time playing at the Aquacourt Water Park.
"I think he enjoys it a lot more in the water," she said.
Boyd brought two dogs, Chief and Boss. While Boss was more interested in the other dogs, Chief was ready to play.
Chief was one of more than 80 dogs who brought their owners to the water park Monday for a final dip in the pool. Boyd loved the event.
"I think it's a really great idea," she said. "I love it."
