Melon Roast show to fill Brickyard

Classic cars are lined up at Brickyard Park during the 2012
Melon Roast car show.

If the forecast holds out, organizers of the annual Melon Roast car show hope to see a big increase over last year's attendance.
The show — noon to 4 p.m. Sunday in Brickyard Park — is organized by the Hastings Melon Roasters Car Club.

At the 2012 show, 216 cars were on display at Brickyard Park. That was a decrease of more than 30 cars from the year before.
Club president Dave Schawang said Tuesday a lot depends on the weather.

"It was raining the whole day north of the Interstate last year, and there were clubs that had quite a few members who didn't show up," he said. "If everyone had showed up we'd be well over 250."

Sunday's weather forecast calls for sun and temperatures in the high 80s.
