The proposed new levy rate looks like it will be significantly lower for patrons of the Adams Central School District.
The Adams Central Board of Education met in a special budget work session Monday to discuss the proposed 2013-14 budget.
Adams Central Superintendent Shawn Scott said the general fund tax rate could drop by as much as $.25 based on the district's proposed budget. The current tax rate for property owners in the Adams Central School District is $1 per $100 of assessed valution. That could drop to as low as $.75 for the next budget year.
"I will tell you when I saw what valuation was going to do last Tuesday, I figured that our general fund levy would go down at least 10 cents, but it dropped significantly more than that," Scott said. "Overall, I think we're sitting very healthy as a district financially."
