Pairing students with the right education to fit the available local jobs is the goal of a revamped manufacturing program at Hastings High School.
About 30 Hastings manufacturers came together this morning to learn about the improvements to and the new collaboration between Hastings High and Central Community College-Hastings to the manufacturing program.
"We are no longer a shop class. We are a manufacturing lab," said Matt Hurt, the manufacturing and welding instructor at Hastings High. "We're creating students to be prepared to work in postsecondary education or in your plant."
