School volunteers build new press box at Duncan

The St. Cecilia press box which is now set upon a new
storage shed is moved into place in preparation for the
football season Wednesday at Duncan Field.

When Duncan Field replaced its light fixtures inside the ballpark, it left St. Cecilia's press box without a means to perch.

It also left a group of parents of students and alum scratching their heads as to how they would get the roughly 6-foot, by 9-foot press box up and operating for the 2013 football season.

Thanks to the efforts of Ron Sekora, John Gaspers, Gene Konen, Russ Hermann, Randy Ahrerns, Bob Dubas, Pat Mertens, Greg Young, and another dozen or so parents of current senior football players, the box was elevated and moved into place Wednesday and will be ready for kickoff when the Blue Hawks play their season home opener on Sept. 6 vs. Centennial High School.
