GRAND ISLAND — Both the Giltner and Thayer Central bands performed Wednesday morning at the Nebraska State Fair, playing in front of the food vendors, animal barns, and visitors along the main thoroughfare at Fonner Park.

“This is the first opportunity of the school year for the kids to prepare a performance. Plus, for the freshmen, this is their first exposure to marching in front of an audience. It’s a great experience for them,” said Emily Siefert, director of the Thayer Central band.

Other Tribland bands that played this week at the State Fair are Hastings St. Cecilia, Lawrence/Nelson, Exeter-Milligan, Shickley and Wilcox-Hildreth.
Bruning-Davenport and Doniphan-Trumbull performed Thursday.
