O'NEILL — Nobody said winning three state championships was going to be easy. In fact, the Sutton senior American Legion baseball team found itself in a less than favorable position going into Wednesday's state championship.

After losing to Pender 7-4 in eight innings Monday, Sutton dropped into the loser's bracket, and that had to beat Pender twice to claim a third straight state championship, which includes a junior legion title in 2011.

"Winning it three years in a row is awesome. What else could you want in baseball? This year has been a wonderful season for everyone with it being our last season together," said Sutton's Harrison Biehl.
