On the surface, success in sports is accumulated by wins, numbers and individual achievements.
Former Hastings High prep standout Tony Reimer had plenty of success — and some failures, too — in his athletic career.
But, as a witness to a bygone era, his focus was on going out and giving it all with his closest friends on the court or on the baseball diamond. Win or lose, sports to Reimer was about having fun. Success was in achievement with friends.
“You learn how to play as a team and you learn how to get along with folks. You want to do well for your teammates,” said Reimer, who now lives in Raleigh, N.C. “For me, personally, all the way to college athletics, that’s what I learned.”
