Chargers program beginning to take shape

Briar Cliff head coach Tom Rethman speaks during Great Plains
Athletic Conference media day in Sioux City, Iowa August 1.

In 2009, the Briar Cliff University football team went 4-6 in the GPAC. In the three seasons since then, the Chargers are 3-25 in conference play.

Briar Cliff returns 16 starters and will play all of its home games in a new venue. It's easy to say there's some excitement among the Chargers' faithful.

"If you look at what we had for staffing and what we were working with for facilities, maybe not of our own, compared from year one to year five there's been quite a bit of difference," said Briar Cliff coach Tom Rethman, who is in his sixth year as the Chargers' head coach. "We're excited to see what happens over the next couple of years."
