NWU has key returners on offense, defense

Last season, the Nebraska Wesleyan football team faced three NAIA top-25 opponents in its first four weeks of the season. The Prairie Wolves lost to top-ranked Morningside 48-10 and 17th-ranked Tabor College 10-9, but NWU beat Northwestern 22-8 when it was ranked No. 17.

All three of those teams went on to play in the national tournament in 2013. And all three of them are back on the Prairie Wolves’ schedule in 2014.

NWU opens the season with a road game against No. 8 Tabor and then hosts No. 3 Morningside the next week. After visiting Briar Cliff, the Prairie Wolves will be at home against No. 13 Northwestern.

“We do have a very daunting schedule in front of us,” said Nebraska Wesleyan head coach Brian Keller, who is entering his 19th year at the school..
