Broncos scrimmage against Wesleyan

The Hastings College football team had a controlled practice Saturday with Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln.

Broncos’ head coach Tony Harper said his team embraced the opportunity to face another team after nearly two weeks of training camp.

“We saw some things that were good, and we saw some things we needed to work on, and I thought the kids approached it the right way," Harper said. "It was good for us.”

It was especially a good day for Adams Central graduate Matt Overmiller, who vaulted his name into the competition at quarterback.

"Matt put himself into a very good situation (Saturday),” Harper said.
